PROCESSION (Digital Collage)

For Feast Of My Flesh #2, I included a double-page spread of a collage about the 'Stop The Church' protest led by the New York chapter of the AIDS Coalition To Unleash Power (ACT UP NY) and Women's Health Action and Mobilization (WHAM). I elaborated on the historical context of this event on the second page, with my own commentary (which relates to the content of #2). 

After researching this art, I highly encourage you to read the book After the Wrath of God by Anthony Petro, as well as the Stop The Church archival footage hosted on the website of the  ACT UP Oral History Project. I would also recommend checking out the depiction of this protest in the historical drama series Pose.
